About GGCE
The Gold & Gemstone Conference & Exhibition is Africa's most focused industry platform for the gold, gemstone and jewelry ecosystem.
Our Story
The Lagos Gold and Gem Exhibition Conference, a proud subsidiary of Women in Mining Nigeria (WIMIN), is an annual event dedicated to celebrating and promoting the rich heritage of gold and gemstone mining in Nigeria. Our mission is to empower women in the mining sector — showcasing their achievements, fostering connections, and driving innovation.
At the heart of the conference is a commitment to supporting women in mining as envisioned in the African Mining Vision — a high-policy document implemented by the African Minerals Development Centre (AMDC) in partnership with AWIMA. We bring together industry leaders, artisans, entrepreneurs and enthusiasts from around the world to exchange knowledge, explore new opportunities, and celebrate the contributions of women to mining and jewelry-making.
With over 3,000 members across 23 states, WIMIN leads advocacy for accountability, sustainability and gender equity — connected to an expansive network spanning International Women in Mining, AWIMA and Women in Mining of West Africa. Join us to be inspired, gain new insights, and contribute to a more inclusive and sustainable industry for generations to come.
Our Mission
Elevating the critical role women play across the mining and jewelry value chain in Africa.
Creating genuine connections between miners, designers, buyers, investors and government bodies.
Introducing new design techniques, technology and business models to African jewelry makers.
Linking African stakeholders to international markets, buyers and export opportunities.
Our Values
Every initiative is anchored in transparency, good governance and the highest standards of professional conduct.
Women are the backbone of artisanal mining. WIMIN creates space, access and economic opportunity for women across the value chain.
Responsible sourcing, community inclusion and sustainable practices are non-negotiable principles — not afterthoughts.
We champion creative solutions and technical advancement across the jewelry and mining value chain.
Progress happens together. GGCE unites miners, designers, investors and policymakers in a shared commitment.
Different perspectives create richer solutions. We celebrate diversity and build community across every level of the industry.
The GGCE Vision
Nigeria's fashion industry transformed by embracing local talent. The gemstone and jewelry sector can follow the same path. Jewelrynomics mirrors the African Development Bank's "Fashionomics" initiative — empowering artisans, building local value chains, promoting sustainable practices, and showcasing Nigerian gemstones and jewelry on the global stage. GGCE is where that revolution begins.
